Well are they gonna prescribe me some vicodin for the pain. Cuz my mom wasn't going for it, so she made me take ibuprofen, and it doesn't work anymore, so everytime I eat, I cry.

  1. I've heard it's extremly painful.  Get that num shot.  A root canle will kill the tooth.  After the root canel it will be dead, and you will have to have it pulled eventully.  Might be better getting it pulled out.

  2. they will give you pain medicine and the root canal procedure does not hurt. You will be numb!  and you will be fine sweetie!

  3. having root canal untreated is more painful than treatment. the anasthesia injection has little pain but once it is numb you won't hurt anymore immediately after filling. you will be given antibiotic good for a day.

have it treated now than endure excruciating pain always!!!

  4. I've had a bunch of root canals and they aren't bad. They numb you up to the max. You won't feel a thing.

  5. To me, I had rather have a root canal than a crown.  They numb you up really good and I have had several and I really don't think they are that bad...

  6. I had one about a month and a half ago. I went to work the same day. It was completely painless.  I took ibuprofen every 4 hours. The only thing that was sore was the injection site form the numbing shot.  Also, my mouth was a little sore from holding it open for an hour. But the procedure itself was painless and like I said I went to work later that day.

  7. I've heard that they are very painful, even days after the procedure.  Good luck.

  8. I had a root canal on Tuesday. I'm still in pain today. I'm taking Vicoprofin (similar to Vicodin but with ibuprofen instead of acetaminophen) but it's still not possible to eat solid food and I wake up in the middle of the night from clicking me teeth together which cause extreme pain.

The actual root canal itself wasn't painful per se. I got 6 novocaine injections and they applied a topical pain gel. I had absolutely no pain from him drilling out the roots and grinding the tooth. When he was pushing in the temporary filling though I started to get pain in my jaw and neck because of the poor support the chair was providing.

I go back on the 12th for the crown. Not looking forward to it.

  9. JES

  10. The infection that leads to a root canal is very painful. The procedure is painless as you are given novacaine. I've had two, you get some antibiotics and good pain meds for the infection. Once the infection is gone you have the actual root canal. Piece of cake...
