Does Rosetta Stone actually help?

I want to learn arabic. I can read and know a fair amount of arabic words already. Does it help?

I got the Japanese rosetta stone.... and well not so good. The main problem i think is that for chinese japanese and others is that wen you have to use different symbols its more difficult to use. Plus rosetta stone is very expensive.... i like the "languages for dummies " audio tapes that also come with written lessons.... Try looking for Arabic For Dummies.... CD set contains three CDs and should only cost around $20.

If  you want to spend a lot of money.. It still Doesn't

To learn a language  you have to learn to speak it

and learn as all.

Best way is to mix with Arabic People.Lean and Speak the lnauge and you'll be fine

Speak the Languages. I didn't .. I speak many languages but used mostly English at home. What happened my kids know very litle of the languages I do, and now they are angry at me for

not teaching them. I tried but when  you have to speak English at Home because your spouse doesnt understand, then its difficult to teach.

No short cuts to language learning

Yes it does help to some extent, but Ive only used the Russian version.

But honestly, it's far too expensive for the benefit you receive .. the pictures are pretty and sound is good, but I prefer books, CDs, and face-to-face lessons.

If it was only $20 I'd say go for it without hesitation, but I wouldn't pay $100s. Maybe try to find someone else who has it (or another language version) so if you can see if you like it first?
