  1. I've never used Rosetta before but I did use another easy (free) site that dramatically improved my french.

  2. suggest you go and look for someone to tutor you in French rather than depend on Rosetta Stone.  Tried it but doesn't really teach me much.

  3. Get it, it works wonders

  4. I have used Rosetta Stone for Mandarin and found it a bit difficult because it did not offer translations.  This wasn't a problem for basic vocab, but was when the grammatical constructions became more complex.  I then tried Instant Immersion, which I preferred.  It had the same interactive quality as Rosetta, but also offered translations.

But the question is, will they help you pass French?  I doubt it.  Unless you have the amazing luck that your teacher is going to test you on what some software program taught, language is so vast that there is bound to be only limited overlap of your course requirements and the software.  I submit it would be more fruitful for you to study what you were to have learned in class, while asking your teacher what would give you the best chances of improving your grade.  Then buckle down and work hard at it, getting frequent feedback from the teacher as to how you are doing.

  5. Rosetta Stone is good for helping you with vocab, but not with grammar - which, in high school, is what you're going to need to know.  I'd suggest a program like Power Glide, which is not only cheaper, but will lead you more through the grammar as well as the vocab.

Honestly, your best bet would be a tutor, but barring that I'd go with Power Glide.  RS is good for helping you *speak* the language well enough to get around, but not for helping you actually *learn* the language.
