  1. Running certainly can strengthen abdominal muscles particularly if you run up hills however generally the reason running makes us appear like we have more defined ab muscles is because it is cardio and therefore reduced any fat layer which is covering our ab muscles.  Because our abs form part of our core strength they are used for everything, sitting, standing, getting up getting down.  So basically everyone has a six pack but most have a layer of fat covering it up.  Get rid of the fat layer and your abs will be defined.  Running is one of the best ways to get rid of the fat layer.  Hope this helps.

  2. Yes running does build the abdominal muscles, but it is not the most effective way to do it. Floor exercises like crunches are best for isolating that muscle.

Also try the Roman chair there are several different way that you can do adominals on it

    Good luck

  3. Running is a benefit to the heart muscle, legs and lungs.

  4. I wouldn't say so. Running builds up the leg muscles more then anything and is the best exercises to burn off fat. You hardly see a runner with a flabby beer gut type of belly due to all the fat it burns off. If you wanna strengthen your abs, do a lot of sit-ups and leg raises. I generally do 200 full sit-ups and 100 leg raises 6 days a week. Good luck

  5. Running will develop core strength is that's what you mean.

It will also reduce body fat, hence your abs may become more visible.
