1. SAG is not an agency, it is the union of film actors. OF course it costs money to join and stay a member, starting at about $2500 for membership fee and first six months' dues, BUT real talent agent do not cost anything. You should have asked on this forum about Barbizon and we could have told you it was a scam. To get an agent, you will need lots of experience acting in school plays and non union films and commercials. The best agents are SAG franchised, which means they operated under guidelines provided by SAG. Agents only want really good actors that they can get jobs for, they do not want beginners.

  2. No offense, but polish up the vocabulary to become any level of pro.

I've been affiliated with SAG and Equity for a long time, as well as IATSE, which is a UNION.

I offer an example you may not understand. In the most simple sense, think of SAG as AARP. Being affiliated with SAG isn't some promise of wealth or fame, but it sure offers a lot more windows, than Barbizon, or ANY AGENT on the entire planet.

No real offense meant to agents, but I equate them to used car salesmen, and certainly to think about GETTING an agent, as so many of you young people seem to want to do, is a notion you might have when you no longer really need that kind of crutch.

In some sense, I wish I was an agent. I'd even offer gift pouches of "Star Dust" to all those who came to me. Sadly, 10% of nothing is NOTHING, and if you didn't make it, you'd be of little value to me. That might equate to my Clients having some Talent, before they ever looked me up.

    Just my 2 "scents"
