We're as asthma patients advised to stay away from DAIRY.

I'm wondering if Soy Milk, and soy produts are considered dairy?

Soy yogurts, etc.

  1. The only products that are considered "dairy" come from an animal's body - cow, goat, etc.

Soy is good for you, for the planet, for the animals...

My son and husband both have asthma and became total vegans a few years ago.  I am not sure how much it helped my husband, but my son is very much better in the area of asthma - overall it has been positive for their health - less mucus, allergies, etc.

If you don't find a soy milk you like right off the bat, keep trying different brands, as well as rice milk, almond milk, etc.  I grew up drinking milk and didn't like any of the soy milks at first.  Gradually my tastes have changed, and I find that I like almost all of them now.  So don't give up  :)

  2. Soy products are made from soy beans, a legume and non-animal. Dairy products (including milk) are made from the milk of cows, an animal product. If you are allergic to dairy products (they tend to stimulate the production of mucous in the human body) then see if your body responds better to soy.

  3. Soy products are made from soya beans.  No cows are involved.

  4. No, it is not dairy.

  5. 100% soy foods have no dairy but that's not to say that all soy foods are dairy free.

  6. no, but it does count as a veggie

  7. No, that is why I tried it in the first place.  It doesn't cause that horrible thick mucus to build up in your throat like dairy does.  I can now enjoy a bowl of cereal with soy milk without having to gag and cough and almost throw up.  My nephew has asthma also, and I got him to try it too.  Works for him as well.  I don't know if it is the same for everybody or not.  There is also Almond Milk and Rice milk too.

  8. no dairy here, anything derived from soy is considered a veggie, as soy is a veggie, people with allergies to dairy use these products, i don't see why an asthmatic couldn't use them, but i would ask my md. for sure, good luck
