Does Saccharomyces cerevisiae (model organism for yeast) undergo sexual reproduction?

  1. No, they reproduce mostly by budding.

S. cerevisiae can undergo both sexual and asexual reproduction.  I had a hard time finding a single site that described both in detail, but I did not look around all that much.  S. cerevisiae are asomycetes, meaning that they produce ascospores for sexual reproduction.  Asexual reproduction by budding appears to be most common.
