I really hope so. He has a good record there and seems to be in good form. I really hope this boosts his confidence and puts him back on track to improve his ranking.

Round 3 match is against Moya.

  1. moya schmoya. safin should eaisly win

  2. no

  3. i think no.. but he could reach 4th round until quarterfinals..

  4. Definately not, Moya will win. I predict the score line 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 to Moya. Safin is too flakey these days.

  5. Safin is highly unpredictable but capable of beating anyone on his day. A huge talent not fully made the most of.

  6. Safin is extremely talented, but lately his head hasn't been on tennis. I think he could go far and work himself back into form if he has confidence again. I always pull for my fellow russian, cause's he s**y, LOL, and I know he is talented. Marat has to put his heart back into his game, he's got the game to win in Hamburg, he just has to have his confidence up. Even if he lost, he's still a s**y russki! LMAO

  7. Safin will have a chance against Moya, but probably not to win the title.  He's been impressive so far though.  Or at least he hasn't imploded yet.

  8. No, he lost to Moya. He had a good run though..looks like he ran out of gas, he had to go through qualifying.

  9. I think only he knows, such is the enigma that is Marat Safin. Anyone who watched him win the US Open in 2000 (over Sampras) and the Australian Open (against Federer and Hewitt in the last two rounds) nearly five years later knows just how talented he is. On a good day, he is capable of beating anyone but on a bad day not quite the same story... and there have been far too many of them in the past couple of years. Saw him on the ATP weekly highlight show talking about trying to make a come back. He seemed serious, but again who knows. If he does, the top three may have some VERY serious competition on their hands.

  10. I really hope he does. He has the talent to win majors. But as someone at TennisWorld put it, Safin is a player who could beat anybody, but then he is also a player who could be beaten by anybody.  Only Marat knows...

He is still the hottest male tennis player, tho.
