I am planning to study abroad in Salamanca. I just got back from a orientation for the whole trip with my school and I asked the study abroad coordinator, is there a nightlife in salamanca...and she started laughing...and didn't end up answering my question...so does it have a huge night life or am I better off going to ibiza?

  1. i studied Spanish in salamanca for a few months and loved it. Your teacher probably laughed because salamanca is known across spain for its crazy nightlife because of its huge student population. You should check out irish rover and camelot for a good night out. Plus all the nightclubs are free to get in to and the drinks are pretty cheap. I can't compare it to ibiza becuase i've never been but i'd expect a completely different atmosphere there and probably a lot less studenty.

    Have a good trip

  2. Yes! It is a student town, I studied in Segovia and there was nightlife, there will be even more in Salamanca, you will be fine! Have fun!

  3. Well, Salamanca is home to the oldest University in Spain.  It's a University town.  That's about all that is there.  And Spanish people know how to party HARD!

I would say, when you add that all up, you are looking at a nice nightlife.

Not the same as Ibiza, but then, if you are going to study, you aren't going to get THAT in Ibiza.

And in any case, Ibiza is probably fun for a week, but that's not a place to live, to study, or to enjoy Spanish culture.  In fact, my understanding is that it isn't truly Spanish...in fact, never really was.
