Does Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic have public bus systems or cheap public transportation?

Yes, they have.  You must discuss the price before getting in the cab or bus. And always use the ones that are identified

Hi, me again.

Yes, they have a bus system (called gua-gua) and you pay between 15 and 30 pesos ( 1 dollar= 33 pesos) to move around. For large rs trips like going to Santiago or even Puer to Plata you have two main bus companies METRO and CARIBE TOURS. Shortly the Metro (subway) will start working but have only one route for the moment. So you see public transportation is not expensive. Note: Some public buses (gua-gua) dont have pre organized stops, so you have to sign them when you see one with your hand up and ask the employee (cobrador) to stop where you want to be. Very funny and let say "special" hihihihi. Hope this helped a bit.

it's really cheap but is not safe at all even for the citizens your best choice is to take a turist taxi they call it los pollitos amarillos( the yellow chicks)

why are you plan to go there to use the public system like in at big city it won work like that so do not count on that.

if you plan to go over there best way book your resort they included everything some time they take you to the city or you can find somebody to take you around for some dollar.
