I'm taking this as a serious question, and the answer is, up to a point, yes. as far as I know it's based on Fuller's Earth which is used to absorb smells etc so when you vacuum it off again, then you're picking up any dirt and smells there may have been. On the other hand, you could just sprinkle on some fuller's earth, if you can find it for sale.
