I am a vegetarian; I am going to Sichuan. I wanted to know how much of the typical Sichuanese dishes have meat in them. Is there a lot of seafood in traditional Sichuanese dishes?

  1. Sichuanese cuisine usually does not involve seafood because it 's not located next to an ocean. Meat actually plays a large part, mainly pork, beef and chicken, but there are several meatless specialties (some sweets and noodle dishes) but make sure you ask before you eat it because there are usually different version of the same dish. you can be sure that what ever version you eat it'll be spicy :)

  2. Hot, sour, sweet, and salty Sichuan - they do use fish sauce in their some of their dishes. Other traditional favorites include velvet shark’s fin, braised bear’s paw, crisp duck roasted with camphor and tea, sea cucumber with pungent flavor, minced chicken with hollyhock, boiled pork with mashed garlic, dry – fried carp, and boiled Chinese cabbage.

While it does not have seafood, Sichuan produces abundant domestic animals, poultry, and freshwater fish and crayfish. They are well known for cooking fish.
