Question:

Does SmartBro really suck? I've read here that they are the worse ISP. How come?

Mga bro, in fairness sa Smart, I've been subscribed to their service for five months, and so far wala namang problema. I can play online games with almost no lag whatsoever, kong meron man, occasional lang to the point of being almost nonexistent (less than a second lag). I like their download speed, it can stream three-minute Youtube videos for under thirty seconds. Regarding uploads naman, ang bilis! I can upload a 50MB Youtube video in under five minutes.

So I wonder how come you guys are experiencing lag and dropped connections. Forgive me for reaching this conclusion, but are you guys employees of Smart Bro's competitor/s? Because what I've read so far here in Yahoo Answers contrasts starkly with my experience as a Smart Bro subscriber.

For just P999.00, they are the best and most reasonably priced ISP. We should be thank them and not smear their name and good reputation with baseless and dishonest remarks.

  1. i would still choose PLDT my DSL, it's also 999 a month.. or 1200 with landline.. it's faster and better.

  2. It's worth every peso that I pay! :)

My cousin called SmartBro agents and was told the antenna will be installed the next day. And it is! We have internet connection the next day. As for the speed, it's good, fast.

  3. I never had a problem when I had Smart Bro as ISP before..

I just switched into other ISP because they offered cable package, it's Bayan Tel's

  4. I have been with them since they started about two years ago. Their broadband is not quite as fast as I'd like (they say 360K, but I can view TV running around 150K without a dropout). for 999P it's worth it.

  5. The biggest problem I'm having with smart bro is that the signal fluctuates most of the time. The antenna is uber sensitive it's even more sensitive than a woman having dysmenorrhea. kiddin.

The speed is okay. I can DL a song from limewire in a minute or even less. Even DS game downloading is quick.

  6. I don't know yet, but I consider it suck because we apply, they just keep on calling that they will come to install, we've been waiting and waiting, for 6 mos, good thing we did not give any money to the agent that give us an application.

  7. smart bro is number one

  8. Your smart bro connections depends on your location, line-of-sight to the smart towers, pc hardware you have at home and the number of connections at a given time.

With the wireless antenna type connection, a sudden burst of wind that can knock it off can cause problems unlike when its wired. Its a good thing if you are not in the typhoon area part of the country like most islands are. Then when you have more pc at home the speed varies & divided, not suitable for internet cafe business.

Also depending on your area and services provider available in your city, you can find other reasonable services that best for you. There is for about the same price in our city an isp that offer twice the speed like 1250kbps while smartbro is only for 256kbps.

I have cable tv subscription plus unlimited internet for P1150. Its the best deal I can find unlike Smart Bro.

Also if you change location, move into a new house. There is a reconnection fee like Php1000+ for the contractors unlike those that do our local cable company w/c is half that amount.

  9. Nope--Smart Bro is only good if that is the only option.  I moved and switched to Bayantel...for P899 I have double the speed and the weather does not affect the connection.  In addition, Bayantel does not require a router to use a VOIP server like Smart Bro does.  You could not pay me to switch back to them.

Only good thing about Smart Bro was the connection was so bad and slow I did not have to pay for three months.  I would have rather had a working connection.
