My kid works for the local sonic's down here in savannah, georgia. The manager keeps putting my child on cash drawers that are already signed out to other employees when they get to work. The drawer is never counted before hand (which all the employees and evening manager can a'test to.) and when the drawer is short they demand that the money comes out of my kid's pocket because they were the last to touch it. I've managed a resturant for many years and know this is in no way proper proceeder. This last time it was over fifty short and i demanded his superviors or human resources number. Both request have been refused. Which is another good question: Can you refuse to give an employee access to human resorces?

  1. here is what I found on the internet.

If you would like to talk to someone about your experience at a SONIC® Drive-In, please call this toll-free number, 1-866-OK-SONIC (1-866-657-6642). Operators are available seven days each week from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, EST. This toll-free number is provided exclusively by SONIC Franchisees as owners and operators of SONIC Drive-Ins.

It appears to be a customer service number, but you can probably get corporate information from them. Problem is, all Sonics are frachises.

Franchisees (the owners) are required to read, sign and agree to abide by the guidelines that Sonic sets up, so you may have some remedy there. Unless the owner is an owner/operator, they probably have no clue of what is going on behind their back. So a call to corporate should wake them up. Hopefully the offending manager(s) will get the axe. If the owner IS the manager, maybe you can get them in trouble for violating their franchise agreement. It could be as simple as a fine, unannounced audits and maybe the loss of their franchise rights.

PS-a little more poking around their website found a corporate address for HR, but no phone or email.

  2. Of course they can't refuse and it's time you interfere. Contact Sonic's corporate office and ask for the human resources department. They have one. If they won't comply it's time to go to the local labor board and file a complaint and they will investigate.
