He gets to follow in the dominant legacy of Robby Gordon & Kyle Petty, as well as the success Ricky Rudd & Bill Elliott had in starting their own teams.

  1. Kyle is great

    He's putting them down

    Hendrick's are behind him

    Listening to his exhaust sound

    His mind may wander

    You might think he'll wreck

But he's still leading the points

    So, what the heck

    You may hate him

    You may not

But it's not like he gives

    A Diddly squat

    Don't count out the "Yotas"

Their in the rear no more

And the M & M man just happens

The first one through the door

    So enjoy all his victories

Even coming home two or three

And at the end of the season

We'll see if the points winner will be HE!

  2. He will never win agan

  3. I don't think so.

  4. Not if he is at Hass/CNC.

He may surprise you all though. What if he is partnered with billionaire John Menard at the former Ginn/Dei complex with DEI employees (cherry picked) along with a few Gibbs defectors. Using RCR engines.

What if his co drivers are Truex, Menard and R. Gordon and sponsors are UPS, Office Depot, Bass Pro and Menards?

Other owner drivers built teams from scratch with limited budgets. Tony is not as stupid as you people think but he does love to put up smoke screens doesn't he?

  5. nope

  6. Sure he will, after about three seasons or so of floundering, punctuated with a win here and there. He will realize that owning a team and driving for a team are two very different things. So he will cut his losses, sell the team, and sign back on with a major team like Childress or Hendrick.

  7. Not with the team he's buying into. If he wanted to win he should stay with JGR, or start a Sprint Cup team with JR Motor sports.

  8. I dont think Drivers should be owners and drivers at the same time of the same car.  If you are to own a team/car have someoen else race for you.  It hasn't worked for the many drivers out there now who do this; ex. Michael Waltrip, Robby Gordon

It has however, worked for guys who own but have drivers in their cars, and then they drive for someone else; ex. Jeff Gordon co-owner of #48 car, Dale owner of car in Nationwide Series.

You just dont want the responsibility of owning your own car and driving it too.

  9. No, but I'm sure Morgan Shepherd will send one right his way.

  10. nope a few races into the season hes going to regret leaving Joe Gibbs but i guess being the "highest paid driver in nascar" will make up for wins and being in the chase. hes going to be watching Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Joey Logano win and get top 10s while hes getting 30th place finishes with Michael Waltrip and Dario Franchitti and all them wastes of space on the racetrack.

  11. Well I was hoping it wasn't going to come down to this, but it seems its all but confirmed now.

    He must really like Chevys.

I wish him luck but lets face it, owner/drivers are a dying breed in NASCAR today with Robby Gordon & Michael Waltrip surviving through partnerships. It may overwhelm even a driver of Tony's caliber.

You could change the name to Stewart Haas but essentially its still Haas CNC.

We'll see where it goes in 09 I guess.

  12. no i don't think he will

  13. I don't think he'll do too bad, especially since it's partial ownership. If he just totally bought the team, he'd be in trouble.

  14. i wouldn't be surprised if tony does better than most are imagining (although probably not as good as if he'd stay at jgr), although i'm guessing it won't be alone. chevy, rick hendrick (or childress), junior, and others may all come along and form interesting partnerships that yield decent results over time...
