Does sunlight do anything to a crocodile?

Sunlight powers all life on earth, but I don't think that's what you are asking.  Crocodiles and other reptiles are ectotherms, meaning that they have very limited control over their internal temperature.  They depend heavily on sun, shade, water and other factors to help them maintain their ideal body temperatures. Direct sunlight would heat a crocodile's surface, eventually heating the inside. The effect would be much greater than what you or I would experience because as mammals we have considerable control over our body temperature and, in the case of humans, would sweat to help remove heat.


  2. A crocodile is a cold-blooded animal. Sunlight can raise it body temperature.

  3. Sunlight causes warmth .Incubation temperature

    determines whether the embryo in the croc

    egg will develop into a  male or female.

    So, I would say yes, in a big way.
