My Computer caught a bad malware virus thingy, and the computer has gone 10x slower than it used to be because i think the virus deleted some important files. I tried alot of the things that i read would help speed the computer up but it doesn't work. I want to know if a system restore will restore the missing files and get my computer going faster again.

Also, is there a way of saving all my files onto the system so that they are still there when i restored my computer. Its not possible to transferr all my files onto memory sticks, dvd's, cdr's because theres just too much stuff.

  1. The best way to get rid of a virus, is an antivirus program like AVG.

  2. you may need to invest in a large capacity external drive to use as a backup for your programs..if you had one you could save your programs and reinstall windows after wiping out the virus.

try running a antivirus program and antispyware programs as well.

  3. The System Restore Disk will take your HDD back to the state it was when you first bought the unit.It will wipe out all your accumulated 'stuff'. Avast! anti-virus has a boot-time scan that you will want to take advantage of KT is on the right track. Good luck!

  4. No, usually a system restore doesn't restore your files.  Creating a restore point takes about 10 seconds; if you want all your files backed up (copied), this would take a lot longer, therefore, no, your files will not come back to you, but system restore can undo some problems that showed up.  Give it a try; you can always reverse :)  Good luck.
