I had a King of Skull Servants on my field my opponent had The End of Anubis and said it negates his effect. I argued that it doesn't because his effect doesn't target the graveyard.

  1. No.

    End of Anubis Lore:

While this card is face-up on the field, all effects of Spell, Trap, and Monster Cards that target a card(s) in the Graveyard or that activate in the Graveyard are negated.

    Keyword:

Cards that TARGET a card(s) in the Graveyard or that activate in the Graveyard are negated.

    Skull Servant Lore:

The original ATK of this card becomes the number of "King of the Skull Servants" and "Skull Servant" cards in your Graveyard x 1000. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, by removing from play 1 other "King of the Skull Servants" or "Skull Servant" card in your Graveyard, Special Summon this card.

    Keyword:

The original ATK of this card becomes the number of "King of the Skull Servants" and "Skull Servant" cards in your Graveyard x 1000.

    Explanation:

At no point does the text say that Skull Servant's attack gain designates the graveyard. It simply takes a headcount. The effect is not even a graveyard effect, because it is only active on the field. However, It's second effect IS a graveyard effect as it involves Skull Knight coming out of the graveyard.

    Conclusion:

    You are correct.

  2. His effect counts the number of Skull Servant, King of the Skull Servants and The Lady in Wight in the graveyard, but because his effect never "activates," The End of Anubis cannot stop him from gaining ATK by his own effect.
