No, I don't think it is a big deal.  No matter how well you raise a child, how closely you try to watch over them, in the end they have to make their own choices.  What would make a difference to me, is how they handle the situation.  

The girl plans to marry the father and keep the baby... it sounds like a responsible kid to me.

Obama clearly stated that this issue is a family affair and no one should give this girl a hard time. So for all you Obama followers...if you think this guy is the change, then why don't you try to follow his example and stop hating on a 17 year old as if you're still in high school.

Not the pregnancy itself.  I can care less about that.

But it's the hypocrisy surrounding the pregnancy.

When minority teen-aged girls have unprotected s*x and become pregnant and decide to keep their babies, they're seen as statistics.

Now that Bristol has been caught having unprotected s*x, she's viewed as a Christian with family values who is just being a teenager who has gone astray.

And her mama is round here running on a platform of abstinence education.

Now if Sarah Palin can't get that concept over to her own daughter, how can she sell that concept to a nation?

The big deal is there is a huge problem in the USA with kids having kids.  It's Sarah Palin's own politics not to teach kids about safe s*x, so when they decide not to abide by the "abstinance only" teachings, they get pregnant.  Bristol is just a victim of her mother.

It's sad, McCain knew Bristol wes pregnant, but chose Palin anyway even though it shows a lack of good judgment on his part, and a worse lack of judgment on Palins part for not educating her daughter better and it undermines the whole family values thing the Repubs always claim, but rarely back up with actions. The real victim is Bristol who has this broadcast to the world, then has all of her options taken from her, except marriage, just because her mom is a VP candidate. What a mess!
