  1. The Royal Standard is flown over the residence in which the Queen is staying.  If she is not there, the Union Jack is flown.

The Queen is actually known to dislike Buckingham Palace and prefers Sandringham and Windsor Castle or Balmoral in Scotland.

  2. The Queen of the UK has a number or residences. The main one in London is Buckingham Palace. There are at least three others but these are usually residences of more Junior members of the Royal Family or are open to the public all year round. The Palace of Westminster is now the Houses of Parliament although it is still known as a "palace" and Lambeth Palace is the official home of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Queen's other main residence near London is Windsor Castle which is the largest working castle/palace in the world and is also the longest with continuous occupation.

Her official residence in Scotland is Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.

All the above are owned by the State, the Queen also owns two private properties (i.e belong to her personally not as Head of State) they are Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire and Sandringham House in Norfolk.

  3. Yes Buckingham Palace - it's really beautiful - saw a documentary of the palace - it's unreal.
