Does This Mean i got the job?

Hi,

I work an an instructional Designer and at the moment i am in australia . I applied for a vacancy in instructional design and the company called me for an onsite interview post a screening through telephonic interview. I was asked for my references after this and now they asked me for a pre-employment medical/drug tests which were done yesterday... is it that i am selected?

  1. I would have a very high level of confidence if I were you.  Companies don't often spend money on drug testing until right before you are hired.  You are not guaranteed the position, but you should be prepared to move to the new company.

  2. You are well on your way, but don't get cocky yet. They have to tell you directly.

Most companies extend an offer of employment with the contingency of passing medical/drug test.  If they haven't actually said we would like to offer you the position, then you shouldn't assume you have the job.  But since you are going for the screening your most likely will be selected. Don't be afraid to ask if this was a form of extending employment of just another step in the hiring process.
