Question:

Does This Sound Like Pinkeye?

It started yesterday morning when he got up, and he had alot of goop and "sleep" in his one eye over the other. It looks a little pink but not to the point of being pinkeye. I know that he was outside playing around Sunday night, wondering maybe if it was something with allergies because his nose has been running constantly. Or maybe it is pinkeye? Any suggestions? It doesn't seem to bother him. Oh he has kind of a hacking cough too in the morning, really sounded horrible this morning.

  1. I would have to agree I'd think allergies first.. Pinkeye usually itches I thnk...

  2. sounds more like allergies.

take him to the doctor see what he says

    good luck! (:

  3. It sounds like the start of pink eye. Although there is another eye infection which i can't recall what it is. It may be possible he has allergies and is forming pink eye at the same time. Pink eye is a viral eye infection so he may be just sick from that. Better to be safe and check with the dr. Pink eye is contagious and will spread by him rubbing his eyes and passing it to others too.

    Poor guy!

  4. If it were allergies, IMO, both eyes would equally affected.

If the child goes to daycare, go to a doctor before the child goes to the carer since pinkeye is so contagious.  If this is an at home child, keep them inside for a day or two more and watch the eye.  If this is a school child and they are not on vacation, be prepared to go get them after the nurse calls with a diagnosis.  Pinkeye is not in the lungs so there is probably something else going on in there.

Wash your hands and the child's with warm water and soap several times a day.  Teaching them young that hands never touch faces will keep them waaaaay healthier.

  5. It could be pink eye or a sinus infection, I would take him to the doctor.

  6. It could very well be pinkeye. My daughter has allergies and one day her eye got irritated.I took her to the doctor and they said that her allergies brought on the pinkeye.

  7. could be pink eye but I'd rule out allergies and conjuntivitis first!
