I never thought I would like watching golf, but I actually watched the last 2 days of the US Open with Tiger and Rocco. Tiger is an incredible athlete, and he actually makes golf enjoyable for non-golf people like me. Anybody else agree?

  1. ya.. i would not be into golf as much if he didnt not play.. he makes the sport like MJ made the nba..

  2. I have been playing and following this sport since I was 11 and started to caddy. Craig Wood, Lawson Little,Gene Sarazen , Billy Burke and Walter Hagen were the recognizable names. After the war Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Tommy Armour were the headliners. Then Arnold put the "rich men's game" on the map with his go for broke style soon followed by Jack Nicklaus. These people all made the game enjoyable and some of the finishes were classic as was the one in this past U.S. Open. All the tournaments have made it enjoyable and you admire the shot making ability of all the pros who are in contention. So Tiger just adds to the mystique for he is an incredible athlete who has yet to reach  his full potential. His determination, and will to excel are absolutely amazing. He has brought the PGA tour to the next level .To answer your question, he has made the game more enjoyable just by being here.

  3. i do

  4. I disagree. Golf was enjoyable before Tiger. :)

  5. I have watched golf since I was young man. My grandmother always had it on in her apartment in Brooklyn. She always rooted for Fred Couples and hated Gregg Norman.

As I got older Jack and Arnold were getting on in years and I would only see them when they played in the Shell Match play.

After my Grandmother passed I was no longer exposed to golf on TV because no one else I knew had it on in every room on Sunday afternoon like she did.

Then New guys like David Duval and Phil Mickelson began to make golf hot again. David with his 59 and Phil with his gun slinger, I can hit from anywhere attitude. More and more of my friends began to have golf on in their house on Sunday afternoon. But when Tiger showed up, you could feel the winds of change comming.

No matter what his nationality or race, he represented the minority. He came at a time when the nation was ready to see someone or something else take over the world of golf.

Before Tiger I would say that most of us just looked at golf. Since Tiger we now catch ourselves watching golf . . . sometimes with our mouths wide open!!!

  6. He makes golf enjoyable for us golfers too.  There's a number of people out there that hate seeing him win so much, but when you got it, you got it.  Until someone else gets it, he'll continue getting it.  I answered a question about who I thought would win before the tournament started and I said neither Phil nor Tiger would win.  I was half wrong.

  7. Yes. I hate to admit it but Sunday golf is much more entertaining if Tiger is in the hunt. I wish i had liked golf before Tiger came into the PGA tour, but I only started watching and playing after he reinvented the sport. However, I do think I will keep watching after Tiger retires. I love the sport now.

  8. Absolutely and positively, unequivocally just so.  Golf pre-Tiger was pretty much boring; in fact I never bothered to watch at all.  Now, I am glued to my TV and keep the live scoreboard up on my puter.

He puts the grrr in Tiger for me, sister...

    grins,

    cryllie

  9. not really

  10. I think Tiger has a talent just like other great athletes in sports.  he is right up there with Wayne Gretzky,  Micheal Jordon, or Babe Ruth

  11. I like watching Tiger he is an amazing golfer and has some serious skills.

  12. I wish the other guy had won the U.S. open.  He deserved it more.
