Does TimeWarner allow u2 replace their ScientificAtlantic Explorer8300HDC w/ another device? Why a Philips DVR

(i was trying to get everything into my question...used every last character space!)

If I get a Philips DVR don't I still need the HD cable box from Time Warner?

  1. You still need the HD converter for the high channels. You can add the DVR in between the two. You do not want to get the Time Warner DVR? I had the Time Warner DVR and then I got rid of that and went with TiVo. Big difference. I used to love the DVR, now I will say I got over that fast after having TiVo!

    It is like going from living with a child and now I am living with an adult in the house. I can put it other ways but I do not want to offend anyone. If you get rid of the Sci/Atl box you will loose some, most likely HD channels. Good Luck.
