  1. Tramadol is a pain reliever.  I have been using it for several years to control back and leg pain.  When I first started using it I would feel a bit high for a little while, but not what you would call stoned or impaired.  Of course I just took the prescribed amount, no more.  After years of using it I no longer feel a "high", just relief from the pain.  If a person takes more than the the recommended dosage it may make a person intoxicated, or high.  This effect is exaggerated if one drinks alcohol while taking the drug.

Tramadol is controlled substance, and should not be used without a doctor's supervision.

  2. realfatharock pretty much said it straight up!

it's not designed to get you high if you are taking it for pain as prescribed. what i have read about it is that it basically masks pain in a different manner than true opiods. that is what makes it a favorite of doctors for treating chronic pain.

i have sciatica, been taking it during flareups for years---it works well & i can function with a clear head.

does your friend have a prescription, or did he boost somebody else's meds???does he drink with it or take other things with it ? (mixing drugs intensifies the buzz)

  3. Yes, it absolutely does. I'm on it right now for back pain.
