My car was hit while parked today. The driver took off. I have a police report, on scene, saying it was a hut and run. there is probably about $700-800 in damages and My deductible is $500.

Does Travelers Insurance waive collision deductibles for hit and run accidents?

Accident happened in Chicago, IL

I read through my policy but I didn't really see anything about hit and runs and deductibles being waived.

  1. That should be covered under your un-insured motorist coverage.  There is probably still a deductible though.

  2. I don't know off hand, but I've emailed a friend who works in the main office in CT, and I will add her answer if she replies to me.

Added:  got the answer.  Uninsured would not apply as they don't KNOW the person who hit you didn't have insurance.  Unfortunately, this is the answer:

an accident is an accident regardless.  if they ever find out WHO did it, THEN they will go after them to get the $$$ but ..... that is a long shot

In the mean time, they will pay for the fix, minus your $500 deductible.  Sorry.
