I'm having a tonsillectomy on the 24th does tricare prime pay for it? Their office is already closed, so I have to wait until Monday to call to ask them. But I was wondering if they do pay for it. Also, the doctor that is doing it is covered by Tricare.

  1. You still have to pay your deductable ($300 annual) and cost share.

  2. As long as it was a referral by your PCM it should be covered fully.  You need to check with Tricare to make sure it is being done either at a MTF or at a hospital authorized by Tricare.

Note:  With Tricare Prime there is no yearly deductible or co-pay as someone suggested.  That is with Tricare Standard.

  3. Tricare Prime will pay 100% of any medical expenses you may have AS LONG AS YOU GET A REFERRAL from your PCM.

  4. If you're under Prime, you have to go through your PCM.  Make sure you do that.
