I am just wondering if holding bachelor's degree from US college and living in US for four years can help with immigration to Canada. I know Canada favors Canadian degrees but I would like to know if living in States can help with immigration process. I am not a US citizen - i got my bachelors here and have been working here for about a year.

  2. Dear Sir/Madam

My name is Gabriel, I work for a Canadian Immigration firm. Let me try and help you out.

For Canadian Immigration, it does not matter from which country your degree is from. If you are applying under the skilled worker category, it really doesn't matter. As long as you have a bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, you will be awarded your points for it.

As for your second question, living in the United States can be of help to you in that you may have to have less of a wait time to hear from the visa office. Also, depending on your experiences in the US and how long you have been there, you could raise the argument that you do not have to present an English exam.

  3. www.cic.gc.ca  is the immigration website.  Go there and add up your points.  Living in the US doesn't give you much of an edge, but the BA helps, as does speaking English.  It is also true that there is a bit more trust in US colleges than in more unknown ones.

I don't know that Canada does especially favour Canadian degrees - it depends on the type of degree and the granting institution.
