Does USC deserve to be ranked #1 after beating Virginia?

  1. No, but I hope it stays that way. There are few phenomena in college football I love more than watching some overrated Pac-10 or Big 10 team get utterly destroyed by an SEC team.  Mark my words, this is exactly what will happen this year--for the 3d time in a row.


  2. They didn't play a cupcake team like most schools did but I do not think they deserve a number 1 ranking. Georgia didn't lose so why aren't they still number 1?

    It will just make beating them in a few weeks better if they are number 1.  

  3. Because Virginia is a more worthy opponent than Georgia Southern and Youngstown St. When teams stop playing crappy teams, they can stay at the top. Ohio St gets Ohio this week. Oh boy.  

  4. well there has only been one week of games played so rankings are a little difficult to justify.  but if one HAD TO justify their #1 ranking, it would be for the following:

    1.  USC played on the road

    2.  USC played a BCS division school

    3.  USC won their game rather convincingly

    but it is early.  the season is long and ANYTHING could happen.  just look at last year...

  5. h**l no...oaklahoma sooners r beater than usc and would whip their u know what if they faced usc...oakloham first game won by a score of 57-2 and many think it might be oaklahoma vs ohio state....so no, usc should be number 4 and my oakllahoma sooners should be number 1 ranked team..peace

    ok, so maybe that isn't justifying it

    but its the truth

    and if it gets people to talk more about college football than they would have, the voters did their job

    I imagine SEC country is pretty pissy about it

  7. Yes, That's fine with me.  Let USC be the one with the big target on there back.  Dawgs played everybody on their bench and the trainers Saturday.  Why?  Cause Mark Richt has class.  Plus, playing Georgia Southern was like playing your cousins.

    Gonna be a long season.  Georgia has had some major injuires already.  USC had some major injuries last year that helped them lose to Stanford.

    Anyway,  I would really like to see a USC/Georgia National Championship Game this year.  Second wish would be USC and any other SEC team.  We need to keep the overrated Big Ten/Big Twelve teams out of it.

    Georgia looks better for 2009.  If we keep Stafford, Knowshons a sophmore, as is most of the O LIne.


  8. Unlike other schools, USC didn't play a complete Cupcake first week game,  but things will even out as the season goes on.  a week 2 #1 ranking doesn't mean much at the end of the season

  9. If you move up in the rankings, it should be for a reason; beating UVA is not anything to be excited about.  I would never put USC #1 because they cant even win out in the weak pac-10.

  10. no. If the voters think they're number one they should have put them there in the first place. Instead they punished Ohio St. and Georgia for not running up the score more, which they could have done, and rewarding USC for doing so.

  12. First I would Like to say I Follow the ACC, Virgina went to a BCS Bowl game on paper that should have been a decent game right,but it turned into a rout and the Bulldogs and the Buckeyes played who I don't remember?

  13. They are just as good as Georgia and are only separated by one vote in the rankings. Lets take a look after they both play some qualified teams. Georgia meets Alabama soon and USC meets up with Ohio State. After that we will know the better team.

    Voters only did this because UCLA beat Tennesse, and they are thinking that the Pac-10 is better than the SEC.

    USC is good, but they will be no match for Georgia when the National Championship comes around.

  19. lmao...... Uga will not be ranked number 1 again this year..... They will probably lose at least 2 games out of these games....South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, and Auburn... I would be surprised if they dont lose 3 or 4 of those games... If you cant even hang on to the number 1 spot with Ga Southern on you schedule... Youve got problems...

    Did you hear?   The National Championship Trophy was looted from LSU Atheletic Department during the hurricane... They looked everywhere and finally tracked it down to Athens GA...

    The authorities asked "Why in the world would you take the trophy Athens, GA?"

    They replied "I knew they would never look for a National Championship Trophy in Athens."

  20. No, Virginia has a mediocre ACC team and USC should have blown them out, which they did

    I think it's funny cause all these SEC fans were all high and mighty last week but I dont hear em running there mouths this week

  21. Depends from whose perspectives. From a Trojans fan then yes. If not, then no. I personally think they kind of deserve it but not totally since I am a realist and but do not take sides on the Trojans. I don't think that they will make it to the NC game, but for the moment being, they can be ranked No.1 if the polls like them.

  22. No worries The Buckeyes will be number 1 after they beat USC on the 13th.
