  1. Yes - about .001% faster.  But since the connection to the router is FAR faster then your connection to the server you're connected to, you might notice a few seconds difference (out of a download that takes many hours) in downloading a 1GB file.


  2. Technically, it does...but the difference is not really measurable.

    BUT: If you turn it off, then others can piggyback which will make it slower - so use the highest encryption you can!

    Leave it on.

    In fact, use wpa2, not wep.
