  1. Oh yes.  But their sins are not as bad as alot of other companies.  Go to any news site and do a search for "foreign sweat shops" "meat processing plants" and "migrant farm workers"

Here is a couple of quick links to show you what I am talking about.

Read a few of those articles and tell me if working in a aircondtioned Wal-mart for $6.40 an hour is so horrible.

As for why Wal-Mart gets so much more attention when others treat their employees far worse?

It's because Wal-Mart made ALOT of enemies.

For example, they refused to provide customers certain prescribed medications because it didn't meet with thier "approval."  They passed judgement on their customers, and tried to decide what drugs they can buy.

I have no sympathy for the company or it's executives.  If they stuck to just running a good business, instead of using it as a platform to spread their own personal poltical and religious beliefs, then they wouldn't be dealing with half of their recent PR nightmares.

I still shop there though, and plan to do so.

  2. No it does not, Walmart is very good to it's workers, there are just those who choose to not like walmart for one reason or the other, but my son and brother are very happy working their and make really , really good money, I have never seen bonus checks as good as theirs.

  3. the bad thing about wal-mart is that its such a big company, but they dont pay like it... i got paid better at a little mexican restaurant then they do at wal-mart.... its just hard to shop for groceries anywhere else when you would pay twice as much at the grocery store

  4. You will get mostly negative reviews about Wal-Mart when asking this questions, for reasons I am not actually sure.  Some people just hate Wal-Mart and that is the way it is.  It doesn't matter how much they give to local charities, support local farmers, pay better (here at least) than unionized grocery chains, etc.  People just don't like Wal-Mart.  But they still shop there anyway, why?  Because we all need to save a buck and that is what Wal-Mart does for Americans, it saves us a buck.

But to answer your question, no, Wal-Mart doesn't exploit its workers or state agencies.  The simple fact is that with 2 million employees, our government won't allow a corporation that big to abuse workers.  Are people sometimes treated unfairly?  Probably, but with over 50,000 managers, you just have to assume that a few of them are going to be jerks.  But overall, the company treats its workers very well.  I know because compared to my former job in the restaurant industry, Wal-Mart allows a lot of otherwise unemployable people to remain employed.

  5. It certainly exploits its workers.

  6. NO and NO
