It does happen if your new duties are less.  It also can happen if they reevaluate your position for less but that seldom happen.  It happens more often on low level management and supervisory positions.  

You may see them more often if they keep failing to meet their numbers.

No, not to the rank and file employees.

Management, however, may get cuts in pay, as the may be reassigned to lower management positions, or lower volume stores.
