Does Walmart sell video games on release date?

Does walmart sell video games on the release date or do you have to wait till later in the day to go in and buy it(can you go in at midnight and buy mercenaries 2 for instance) anyone with experience, (bought a game on release at walmart or works their)

It would only make sense for a retailer to hold a midnight release party if they could justify the additional operational costs with a huge surge in revenue. It will also depend on the specific Walmart in your neighborhood, as big chains such as Walmart tend to delegate operation specifics to their regional and store managers. In terms of when they actually get the game on shelves in typical cases, they should have the game on shelves, or on their way to the shelves, by opening, especially if it's a major game.

It pretty much depends on the demand & buzz for the game in question.  If the game is a big-name game, they'll likely make an attempt to stock it for release day.

Otherwise, they usually stock new releases on the next Tuesday after the release day.
