Question:

Does Wells Fargo verify salary history?

A friend of mine works for wells fargo and she lied on her salary history by saying that she got paid $12.50/hr in her previous job, but really didn't. She still got the job though. I asked my supervisor at Bank of America and she said that no company is allowed to ask a previous employer how much that employee got paid in their previous jobs so I'm wondering if it's okay to overstate the salary history just a little.

  1. I used to work in HR of a company, and the only thing we were able to answer was Yes/No questions. For example, if they asked " did the get paid 12.50" it was either yes/ or no

  2. Well I have had some employers release that information ans some not do it.  At the minimum, they will confirm dates you worked so don't try and claim more time on a job thatn you actually worked.

You don't have to tell a prospective employer exactly what you made anyway.  Just say you were making a competitive salary for the position you were in.
