  1. OH, I HOPE NOT.

  2. The views expressed on Y&A are typical of any public board

  3. I really hope not cause we'd be seriously screwed.

  4. worse, I hope

  5. The range of mentalities I've encountered is sufficiently broad to mirror that found in the world at large, so I find no solace in my participation, only the usual amusement...

  6. Unfortunately, it might actually be above-average for the population.  To be here, you at least have to know how to turn on a computer, find the browser, go to the base URL, and sign in.  Not everyone knows how to do that.

  7. It probably represents the typical mentality of the people who are scared to ask questions in real life.

  8. I sincerely hope that it does not reflect the "norm".

If so, then I fear for our general level of literacy, intelligence and critical thinking skills.

All just my opinion, of course.

  9. I've run into people claiming to be as young as eight years old, and a few who claim to be in their eighties.  Many professional people are here, as are many artistic people.  There are published writers, nurses, many working on post-grad degrees, etc.  Then there are some very immature people...what their mentalities are is not known by what they write at this site.  There are bigots, and fighting between the religious and non-religious.  There is fighting between religions.  There is fighting in politics........Take into account that many people using this site know English only as a second language...which could account for some of the grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors.
