Does Yahoo really monitor their message boards?

yup i just got  'fined' 9 points for answering a question in a joking manner but apparently the moderator didnt see it as a joke so i got 9 points docked (big deal) and an e-mail saying not to do anything like that again other wise they may cancel my account.

Yes they do their Staff members hang out in the Yahoo Answers section to answer questions and they check out other areas too. Plus when someone reports a person they have people that look into each report with thin 24 hours and if its in violation of their guidelines they either take some points away and send you a violation notices or delete your account depending on the question.

  There is at least one person that stays on the message board and answers questions and deleted any if needed.

Yahoo answers is not the same as Yahoo Message Boards (although some people treat it as such). Yahoo doesn't actively monitor anything it seems they just look at complaints and scold the abusers in both environments. They have recently set up a bot in the message boards so you can only post so many times before it kicks you out. Kind of like what Answers does only it's not based on level everyone has the same limit.

Yahoo can't moderate all their areas all the time so it's a kind of a self policed environment whether it's the Message Boards, Answers or Chat.
