I want to register to a paying Social networking company. (A website like Myspace that pays you money to use their website).

I am required to be atleast 14 years of age, have a valid Social Security Number, have a TIN (Taxpayers Identification number) or ITIN , and fill out an IRS form W9. But If a person is only 14, they don't pay taxes yet, so do they already have a TIN?

  1. Normally kids get a ss# when they are born.  Ask your parents if you have a ss#.  Assuming you or they aren't in the country illegally, they most likely claim you on their income tax return, and to do that they have to show your ss# or ITIN

  2. Your social security number is your Taxpayers Identification Number.  If you have not memorized it yet, you will!!!

  3. A person who is 14 and earns money may pay taxes.  There is no minimum age for paying taxes.

However, you certainly have a Social Security Number.  You parents could not claim you on their tax return without a SSN.  You can ask your parents about your SSN.

Be careful who you give your SSN to.

  4. Check out the link I provided below.  I think you provide either your SSN or a ITIN. You probably already have a SSN if you were born in the USA, but would need to apply for a ITIN. Even if you are only 14 years, you still would have to pay taxes on any money you receive as income or pay.  Please be careful of giving your personal info to anyone or any website. Some sites are frauds. Once your identity is stolen, it's very difficult to repair it. I would suggest you have an adult check out the website. If you note the website, I could do that for you too.

  5. a person's Taxpayer identification number is their social security #.  So unless you are a trust that needs to file for a TIN (cause it isn't a person and therefore doesn't have a SSN) you are all set!
