In Aus the top of the baby capsule or booster seat has a belt off it which has to fasten to an approved bolt which screws into a required fitting in the roof or floor behind the seat as well as the use of the seatbelt through the back of it. My Chev was imported in 1989 and converted in 1990 by an importer in W. A. and is a 9 seater but has no visible cap covers over a bolt hole in the roof or floor. I have retractable seatbelts front to rear in mine retrofited? by law here. Would the bolts holding them in on the 3rd row have been used for that in the States as the outside ones go up out to the rear on either side and mount just in front of the rear roof air con which wouldnt still be legal here as they are not straight behind. At the moment we cant carry our grandchild as no legal fitting visible for seat

  1. Baby capsule?...never heard that one before. Must be an Aussie term.

I don't think an 82 model would have the tether attaching points on the seat backs as newer models would so you'll have to have a shop arrange one on the seat back frame or a reinforced welded anchor point on the floor and use an extension strap....that would be the easiest. Check with local laws or inspection units.
