Question:

Does a 1993 Ford Probe have a cable or hydraulic clutch?

If it's a cable, how can I adjust it, and if it's hydraulic, what do I do? My clutch suddenly became very loose while I was on lunch break. It still works but it's driving me crazy! I've never worked on a car before (other than some seats that I accidentally installed backwards). I'd hate to take it to the shop for something so simple.

  1. First off did you happen to see any puddles of fluid under the car. If so it hydrolic if not its a cable.  For the clutch to all of a sudden become very loose in a hydrolic you lost the pressure. if its a cable than the cable is fixing to break giving no clutch action period.  mostr ford vehicles have a cable. I am not to familiar with the probes so I really could not give a straight answer. I will tell you this DO NOT DRIVE IT. untill the clutch is fixed and working properly. If it goes out completely while driving it it will be more than the clutch that would need to be replaced if you get my meaning.

  2. That car is equipped with a hydraulic clutch. Not sure what you mean by "clutch very loose".There is a small reservoir behind the brake master cylinder to check your fluid...obviously if the fluid is low,you have a leak in the system. If it is low,add some brake fluid to this small reservoir & pump the clutch pedal a few times. If it feels ok,take it in and have the leak fixed.
