My truck is at the garage getting the trailer brake system put on, so I can't see it, but would a 2006 F-150 4.6L Auto have a transmission cooler?

  1. If you had a towing package directly from the dealership when the vehicle was new then you have one.Either way every vehicle has a transmission cooler. Most vehicles coolers are inside the radiator but other vehicles (such as trucks with a towing package or high performance street cars) have an extra transmission cooler as well.Since you vehicle is a newer F150,if you have the extra tranny cooler that came originally from Ford with the towing package, the cooler would be located right in front of the air conditiong condensor and radiator at the bottom, just right behind the bumper. It will be silver and about 12-16 inches in length and about 4-6 inches high.It aint hard to miss.If you dont have one and you plan on doing some heavy towing(which it sounds like you are)best bet is to have one installed!

  2. yes most coolers are inside the radiator
