Does a 50CC moped have to have road tax?

I'm going to buy a 50cc moped but i dont no if they have to have road tax. i looked on some websites but all it said was 'NON APPLICABLE'. does anybody body know how much it will cost for a years road tax on a 50cc moped and how I can apply for it.

    But as far as I can work out the max for a vehicle of that cc is £15 a yr.

    If you have the log book you can do it online, if you only have the new owner registration slip you would have to do it via the post office.


  2. DVLC website. If it's going to be on road, it will need to be taxed (unlike horses and pushbikes!)

  3. £15 a year as previously stated.

    If you have the V5C and it is in your name then you can go and get it done at the post office, however if it is not in your name or you only have the green slip best go to the DVLA local office as the post office is liable to send you there anyway.
