I want to get either a 4th or 5th generation Maxima. However i am on a budget so i am counting in MPG ratings in here too. If they have the same MPG rating i will get the 5th generation maxima.

  1. NO...THE 5TH GENERATION MAXIMA HAS BETTER MPG, BYE FAR THEN THE 4TH GENERATION.

  2. No, the same, but you get more power.

  3. do a search on maxima.org

it all varies on what kind of condition the car is in and how the person before you took care of it. as well as how you drive, city/hwy driving, weather, performance mods.

ive seen people say the only get 18 mpg and some say 25 mpg on a 5th gen.

  4. The 5th generation probably gets worse gas mileage. The 4th generation Maxima weighs around 3000lbs but the 5th gens are around 3500lbs and with it weighing 1/6th more you shouldn't expect the same mileage.

I'd personally get the 1997-1999 model which has a revised grill as far as 4th gens are concerned.
