Question:

Does a 99 Mitsubishi Mirage have a good lifetime?

Hi,

I am searching for a car and saw a local deal for a 99 Mitsubishi Mirage with 113k miles for $1,800 or best offer.

My old car, before it was totaled, was a 91 Honda Accord. I know you can get a lot of miles out of Hondas.. but what about Mitsubishis?

Also, given the car runs fine and looks fine, would you consider this a good deal?

I appreciate the help!

  1. Trannys on these cars can be kinda iffy..that would be the one thing i would check also if its private party make sure they have changed the timing belt cause that can cost almost as much as your gonna pay buying it.

  2. www.mirageforums.net is a good place to get info from your fellow owners.

And DarkJEster is right. The automatic transmissions are rather weak. If it's been babied, it should be fine though. but if the previous owner was one of the fast-and-the-furious ricer kids, I wouldn't offer more than $400 for it. If it's mechanically sound, it's a good deal for a decent car that's very upgrade-friendly since it shares the same body and framework as the Evo 4-6.
