Do betta fish actually need a heater for their tank? or will they be fine without one?

    The difference between a cold betta (they lose their color, don't move around very much, get sick easier, are generally blah) and a warm betta (colorful and active fish) is incredible. They do need a heater...unless you have a heated fish room that is kept at a constant temperature in the high 70's to low 80's.

  8. A Betta should have a heater.  They prefer water that is warm (between 75 and 86 F and 24-30 C). The average room temperature is between 68 and 77 degrees.  This being the case, your water will not heat to the betta's preferred temperature with out help.  When your water is too cold your betta really does suffer and becomes very sluggish.   9. they are tropical fish but do not NEED a heater, the will appeciate 1 if it like winter or something but its fine if yuo odnt but if yuo were planning on getting a heater for it i would, but if yuo were just asking then you dont have to. they dont need a filter either but if yuo have one great! but no yuo do not NEED one but i would suggest it for winter! hoped i helped!
