Question:

Does a Britax Marathon take up much more space than a Graco Safeseat when installed rear-facing?

I'm deciding when to switch my little guy over. The passenger side seat of our Acura has to be really forward with the Graco... want to know if it will be better or worse with the Britax (assuming it even fits... i know its big)

  1. http://www.carseatdata.org/  You might can check here to see how it might fit.

Here is the web page for the Marathon  http://www.britaxusa.com/products/produc...

  2. Not really.  My mother has the Graco in her car for my daughter and we have the Marathon.  We LOVE the Marathon.  Best safety ratings (when we bought in 2005).  We bought our parents Graco car seats because they were the best buy.  The Graco has a cup holder too.  Space wise, not too much different, though.

  3. I'm using the Marathon now, and when my son was born, I was using the SafeSeat.

It's pretty much the same amount of room to use both seats.  I switched my son over to the Marathon right around 5 months and he is so much more comfortable in that seat.  :)  He's 9 months now.

  4. Hmm my chart doesn't list that.

    Anyway here's my experience.

I got an Alpha Omega (aka eddie bauer, aka costco) and had to remove the base to make it fit (bases don't look removable but they are).

This time I got a Evenflo Triumph Advanced and installed with the base it takes up less room than the Alpha Omega and is a better seat (and cheaper)  BUT it still takes up more room than my Graco infant seat (not safeseat, not sure what model but its old ....like pushing 6 years old).  Not buy much but maybe by 2"

I hear really really good things about the Triumph Advanced from all sorts of car seat experts and the harness height and tightness is way, way easier to adjust than the Alpha Omega.
