Does a (British) naturalized US citizen have to give up their British passport?

  1. From my understanding a US citizen is only a US citizen, because in the oath you throw off all allegiances to other nations.  You might want to talk to the British consulate or INS.


  2. Hjas is right.  Although the US naturalization oath forswears allegiance to any other country, in fact you can only lose your UK citizenship if you took that oath with the intention of losing it.  The law is exactly the same in the US.  Here is the US reference:

  3. no,you do not have to give up either one of the citizenship,  the US and the UK allow dual citizenship,therefore you would be a dual citizen .

  4. You Can claim Dual Citizenship...however I am not Sure how
