Does a Canadian permanent resident need a Visitor's Visa to visit the US?

As stated by Officer Jeff it will come down to what country you are a citizen of.  A permanent resident does not have the same travel privileges   as a Canadian citizen.  You do not state your citizenship so I can't say if you need a visa or not.  Basically, if you are a citizen of a country of the Visa Wavier Program then you will not need a visitor visa and can visit in the US for 90 days.

Depends upon the country that you are a citizen of.  We do not care that you are "landed" in Canada, we care what country you are a citizen of.  If you are a citizen of a country that the United States has a treaty with for the Visa Waiver Program and meet the requirements of the VWP, then you do not need to get a visa.  If your country of citizenship is not part of the VWP, you will need to get a visa to enter the United States.

I live in Canada too and I just got back from visiting the US for 2 weeks. All i needed was my passport. My mom only had her birth certificate and photo ID such as a drivers license, and thats all she needed to get across the border. i hope this helps.
