  1. Only if you let it.

  2. it can depending on your financial situtation there are heavy fines imposed lawyer fees and there can be jail time even if it's a first offense and chance of losing your liscense

  3. No, it will not ruin your life, especially if you learn from your mistake and determine not to let it happen again.

The punishment is severe financially with fines, insurance premiums, making other transportation arrangements, etc.  The actual jail time for a first offense may simply be overnight...  But the key is to never get another, as it is a "priorable" offense, meaning the consequences get much more serious with each additional DWI/DUI.

  4. no

but it sure can make it hard

usually the first offense is a  fine and mandatory schooling..possibly one month or loss of driving privalges....some states do allow a hardship for work .

if not to far over limit

  5. It will only ruin your life if you let it.  Pay the fines, get your license back, learn the lesson...and forget about it.  As long as it doesn't happen again, since that would increase the charge, I don't see why it should affect anything in the future.  I think you would be surprised to find out how many people have a DWI on their record.

  6. it depends on what type of life u were hoping to have - particularly your interest in pursuing a career and any form of professional licensure.  in many cases, yes, unfortunately, it will ruin a good chunk of a person's life, which in turn ruins the rest of it.  the charge and punishment from court are not that bad in the scheme of things, but dealing with the collateral consequences [i.e., it shows up in background checks] is what does the real harm.
