Does a Legal Resident need a re-entry permit if she is gone for more than 5 months?

My mom is in the Philippines right now and she is staying there for 5 months to take care of our business. She is a green card holder, does she needs to call the US embassy in Manila regarding her stay there? need more info if she needs to get a re-entry permit

  1. It's no big deal to double check with the US embassy, I would to be on the safe side.


  2. As long as she's back before a year she should be okay.  It's too late to file an I-131 with CIS because that needs to be filed before leaving.  

    The embassy could issue a re-entry permit if they feel she needs it.  Have her call them.

  3. No, a Re-Entry Permit is not required.
