Question:

Does a Monroe piercing really effect your teeth and/or gums?

I'm really considering getting it this week, I've been wanting it for a few years. But I heard it can cause gum loss and/or mess up your teeth. I want to know from people that have had it, or have a friend/family that had/has a Monroe.

Does it really do damage? Or is that just certain people that has happened to, like maybe the bar is to long?

Please help.

  1. Well, I have my lip done, and I have no dental issues so far, it has been I guess 4-5 yrs.

I do wear a plastic backing, I think it is just safer, so the enamel doesn't get scratched off, although, I think you need to have it done with metal, as it is more hygienic.

I have a friend who did chip one of his teeth with his, but that was because he was being stupid.

As long as you are careful, I don't think you will have any problems, and I recommend changing to plastic when you are able to, it's better to be safe!

    Good luck.

  2. A properly placed piercing and properly sized jewelry can cut down on the risk of gum and tooth damage, but the risk is still there.

With a monroe, your major concern is gum damage. Basically anything that is harder than your gums (all piercing jewelry materials) that rubs against them can cause gum recession.

If you get it done, make sure you go to a reputable piercer. If you do notice any problems, go back immediately to see if a jewelry change will help. If it doesn't, take it out. Gum damage is pretty serious and can be expensive to fix (if it can be fixed, sometimes it can't)

  3. the product got bad reviews on teethwhiteningrevies.com: http://www.teethwhiteningreviews.
